My Goalkeeping System

Chapter 242 First Yellow Card

Supreme United players and coach were desperately waiting for the referee to blow his whistle and bring the first half to an end as Unique FC players were still mercilessly tearing up their midfield and defense.

Fortunately for them, Unique FC weren\'t able to get a second goal until the referee blew his whistle twice to bring the first half to an end although they had gotten really close to creating that two-goal cushion and it would have been a massive hit to Supreme United.

"That marks the end of the first half, it has been quite an interesting and surprising first half as well." Jim expressed. "I never thought that I would get to see Unique FC overpowering Supreme United like this, I knew they would be able to beat them at some point because that\'s how football works but outplaying them with their current squad was out of the question."

"Yeah, Jim, it looks like it\'s time for teams to stop underestimating this Unique FC team because if you do that, they\'ll hit you like they\'re hitting Supreme United right now." Steve articulated. "Anyway, the match isn\'t over yet, we\'ll have to wait and see how Supreme United responds in the second half."

"Yeah, but at the moment, the first half comes to an end with the score, Supreme United nill, Unique FC," Jim said.

The statistics board had a clearer depiction of how much dominance Unique FC had over Supreme United in the first half.

The guest had fifty-nine percent ball overall in the first half while Supreme United had forty-one percent ball possession.

Unique FC had released eleven shots with seven of them being on target while Supreme United released only three shots with just one of them being on target.

Right now, the guests were in their locker room and Norman had quite a lot to tell them.

"You all have done well so far, but as always our finishing has been really poor, we should be at least two goals now." He said. "We\'re dominating the game but that doesn\'t mean we should relax and lose our guard, remember that a one-goal advantage can be erased at any point in the game, and who knows what they\'re plotting now but one thing is certain, things won\'t be this easy in the second half so listen carefully to me."

After getting the required amount of rest and listening to what their coaches had to say, the players were now making their way to the pitch to resume the match.

"Welcome back, everyone, the second half is about to kick off here as we can see the players making their way to the pitch now," Jim said.

Supreme United were going to be the ones to start the second-half kick-off and right now, Roland was standing.

"Looks like there have been two changes to the Supreme United side, both of the attacking wingers have been removed and they will be replaced by Melody on the right wing and Segito on the left wing. But there is no change from Unique, looks like Norman believes that his boys will continue doing what they\'re doing." Jim articulated.

The referee blew his whistle to begin the match as Roland quickly passed the ball to the midfielder beside him who quickly sent the ball to Melody who in turn sent it to Segito.

By the time the ball got to Segito, Roland had already broken free to create enough space to do what they wanted to do.

With a single touch, Segito sent the ball flying toward Roland who had just gotten past Adolf and Aima but before he could get to the ball and do what he wanted to do, Dave was right there to clear the ball, the goalkeeper was away from his box when the ball was sent flying over and this was the only thing that came to his mind.

"That was a clever move from Supreme United trying to get an early equalizer with that move but it looks like Dave was in the right place and at the right time to thwart their plan." Jim expressed.

"It\'s a good thing that he went directly for the ball instead of retreating to the goalpost as we can see, if he had attempted to head back to his goalpost one bit, Roland would have put that ball away."

<Nice thinking, Dave>

\'I wasn\'t really thinking, my body did what it had to do.\'

Just like Norman thought, Supreme United had gotten better in the second half, their attacks were more direct now without them always losing the ball to Unique FC defenders and it looked like they were starting to find the spaces in their defense but, Unique FC still had the upper hand and they were still controlling the game possession-wise.

Mateo received the ball from Ferran and quickly got past the player in front of him with his pace and confusing feints before drilling the ball low into the box for Fred.

"Nicely done by Mateo," Steve said.

Fred was fast enough to get to the ball first as the defender ended up getting to it first and with a single touch, he sent it flying far away from their goal area.

"Nice clearance from the defender and this could be trouble for Unique FC!" Jim exclaimed.

The ball was sent flying toward the left on the other side close to their box area, Norman was marking Segito but in the process of trying to read the ball and clear it, he slipped causing Segito to get his foot on the ball.

"This could be their moment."

The winger had enough space toward the goalpost and get that goal but before he could do that, Dave had already closed up on him and with a sliding tackle, he took the ball off his feet and past the line for a throw-in.

"Wonderful thinking from Dave, this is the second time he\'s doing something like this but things don\'t still look good," Steve said.

Segito quickly rushed to the sidelines and caught the ball thrown to him by one of the ball boys but before he could throw it so that his teammates could strike while Dave was still away from his goalpost, the goalkeeper quickly rushed to the ball he had sent past the sidelines and quickly threw it into the field of play before quickly making his way to his goalpost, a pissed off Segito threw the ball at him but he didn\'t care and continued heading toward the goalpost.

"That was a smart move by Dave, bringing the ball into play so that Segito won\'t be able to throw the ball he was holding," Jim said.

"Yeah, but he\'s definitely going to get booked for that," Steve said.

Just as he said that, the referee who had now gotten to the goalkeeper with a yellow card in his hand, raised it toward him before bringing it down to write down the details.

"As expected, he has been booked, the fourth booking of the night and Unique FC\'s first booking," Steve said.

"That\'s the first time he\'s getting booked since he became a professional footballer, his first yellow card," Jim said.

\'Who would have thought that my first ever yellow card would come like this but it was definitely worth it.\' The goalkeeper said subconsciously.
