PATH OF THE STAR HUNTER

Chapter 124

In the first instance, I was not planning to break the world record in distance archery, it could even be said that the distance that currently separated me from my target was nothing to be amazed at; but neither did I have the confidence that I could get closer to the steel emperor serpent undetected or to move away and still be able to make the shot.

And even despite all the above I was quite confident, was it arrogance perhaps? I honestly don’t think so, it was something different, it was more of a sensation, I felt that once I fired. . . everything would have ended for my prey.

The origin of this feeling was the bow in my hand and although I did certainly not like this strange influence on my cautious way of thinking, I still thought that I should at least try to find out what my new weapon was capable of.

Clearing my mind of all unnecessary thoughts I began to prepare to shoot, first I felt the wind around me to determine how much it would affect the flight path of my arrow, then I found the correct firing angle, I located my target which in this case was the wounded area on the snake’s neck, adjust my breathing, little by little I gathered the mana around me in preparation to reinforce the arrow, placed the arrow on the bowstring and began to stretch it as far as my strength allowed; having reached this point I just needed to release the bowstring and see the results.

Of course, it is at times like this that unexpected situations arise and that is exactly what happened, suddenly I felt how the bow in my hand began to greedily drain all the mana in my body, only seconds passed before I felt completely exhausted and yet the bow didn’t seem satisfied.

Soon the bow proceeded to devour all the mana in the surrounding atmosphere at a rate that rivaled what I observed when the steel emperor serpent made its final move.

′′ Shit this is not good ′′

And indeed it was not good, as soon as the anomaly manifested by my bow affected the environment the snake noticed it with its acute senses, the only saving grace was that it seemed too exhausted to do anything to defend itself or attack me.

.....

Soon the entire bow had absorbed a tremendous amount of mana, then streams of green mana-like vines began to creep from the ends of the bow and made their way up the string until they reached the arrow affixed to it.

When we got there, these mana condensed vines coiled around the arrow until they completely covered it, I almost thought that the process was over when something else happened, something started to grow on the arrowhead, a crystallization of condensed mana took shape. in just a few seconds and I immediately recognized the final image that had been created. . . I almost doubted my vision but there it was, a small representation of the antlers of the dark-edged creeper tiger was at the tip of the arrow giving it a strange and dangerous appearance.

But I did not have more than a fraction of a second to appreciate this phenomenon because as soon as it was formed, I felt that the bowstring began to tighten by itself, little by little it became more difficult to hold the arrow in its current position and not even a second later I knew I had reached my limit; I couldn’t continue holding the arrow so I could only do what seemed most logical in the current situation. . . release the arrow.

GROOOOWL!

A powerful roar was emitted from my bow as the arrow took off its brief flight, followed by an almost grim glow and followed immediately after by a powerful impact sound.

BOOOOM!

For a moment I thought that, instead of shooting an arrow, I had fired a damn missile launcher, the place of impact was a disaster, with dust and debris flying through the air visibility was almost nil; my only consolation was the lack of response from the serpent emperor.

Ironically I ran into a problem of a different nature when trying to get up from my shooting position and that is that my body refused to listen to my orders, unprecedented exhaustion overwhelmed every fiber of my being and it was only through my willpower that I had not fallen unconscious until now; it seems that being completely drained of mana by force is not good for health. . .who’d say?

Maybe due to her sixth feminine sense or the fact that she had not stopped staring at me like a hawk, Sasha quickly approached and allowed me to lean on her so I will not fall to the ground, without even a second of delay she proceeded to quickly check the little girl backpack on her side and from it, she took out the stamina potion that I had seen and used before.

I saw her open the vial and try to make me drink it, but I did not even have the strength to open my lips, hell I had never felt so helpless, Sasha seeing my setback seemed to fall into her thoughts only a moment before putting the vial on your lips and pour the content; I didn’t even have to wait to see what she wanted to do as I soon felt her lips pressed against mine.

Thanks to Sasha’s kind efforts, the potion soon passed from her mouth to mine and that invigorating sensation made its way around my body, while the exhaustion was gradually extinguished, I was also recovering the ability to move.

Within a minute the effect of the potion had worn off and I was as good as new. . . well not so much, I still felt quite exhausted, but not as much as I had been a few moments ago, of course having Sasha still kissing me a little lost in the moment helped me feel better.

Perhaps having recovered a bit from the moment, Sasha realized that I had recovered and that there was no longer any potion to give me so at this point it was only her obvious whim that fueled this kiss and realizing it the tremendous embarrassment she felt in that moment was enough to make her entire adorable face turn red.

Unfortunately, although I wanted to be able to continue seeing more of that tenderness, I still had to review the result of the arrow that I fired earlier, so I directed my vision to where the snake was; When I saw her there was only one thing I could say: ′′Hollyshit ′′
